but i roll my eyes @ ppl who think it’s the same thing as fat-shaming bc come on

the media reinforces every single day that the “right” kind of body type is a slim one

the original post seems to be saying that i don’t have a right to complain about strangers asking me if i throw up after i eat (which has happened to me on multiple occasions) and that the world should be up in arms about anyone using the phrase “fat ass”…. but by all means, “skinny bitch” is totally fine! throw that one around anytime!

some comments i’ve seen made about this post include more grievances, like how hard it is for a bigger person to find clothing… it’s hard for me too. when i see people of my body size in pop culture, it’s next to a headline questioning whether or not “x” celebrity is anorexic or “taking her dieting ‘too far.’” so please, stop talking about how much easier it is for a thin person because we’ve all got our own shit to wade through— it’s a double standard that i’m beyond fed up with.

but that’s not the point and i’m not gonna waste time arguing who has it worse because it’s not about that. the reason why this post is offensive to me is because it’s not anti-body shaming, it’s encouraging thin shaming. if we were to put this argument in the same scope as racial discrimination— which i’ve noticed PLENTY of people doing— this statement is the equivalent of someone saying:

i know that it sucks when people are racist towards asians and all, but african americans have it worse. i mean. racism sucks in general but asians reallllly don’t have much to complain about.

but you never see that sort of bullshit because the anti-racism plight is fueled by the idea that all races should be treated equally. equality doesn’t seem to be a motivating factor here.

moral: don’t body-shame one body type in an effort to counter another form of body-shame.
